Bailiff for Tournaments

1Ls are invited to become involved by serving as bailiffs for Moot Court tournaments. Bailiffs keep time during oral argument and assist judges in the courtroom. Bailiffing is a great opportunity for 1Ls to learn about appellate advocacy and meet members of the local bar.

If you would like to be a bailiff for our 2021 Alumni Torts Tournament, please sign up on TWEN. Add the page “Appellate Moot Court.” Visit the “Interview Signup Sheet.” Sign up under the date and time of your choice. You can sign up for more than one date and time (and we encourage you to do so)!

Apply for the Associate Board

In the Spring, the Moot Court Board selects 1Ls to serve on the following year’s Associate Moot Court Board. The Associate Board, along with the Executive Board, works to host tournaments and promote appellate advocacy at USD. Associate Moot Court Board members hone their appellate advocacy skills by competing in at least two intramural tournaments during their second year.
